Seoul's Hongdae district is packed with clubs‚ pubs and partyers from many different backgrounds.
Now this trendy area is hosting an exhibit on one of the Czech Republic's favorite drinks‚ SLIVOVICE.
Our reporter Chang Yeojeong was there to bring us this report.
It's called "Slivovice” in Czech‚ but in English‚ it's "slivovitz" .
This strong‚ colorless alcoholic beverage is made primarily from distilled fermented plum juice.
And Slivovice is to the Czech Republic's representative drink.
CHANG YEOJEONG‚ REPORTER: "To this end‚ an exhibition under the title "A Drink with a Soul" is underway at a restaurant in the Hongdae district in Seoul‚ to introduce the history of the nationally-loved drink slivovitz as well as people who adore the drink."
Historical photographs show the soul of the drink starting from the tradition of fruit-growing in the Czech Republic's eastern area to the production process‚ in which growers carefully transform the fermenting plum mixture into a crystal-clear liquid.
The Czech Embassy in Seoul is holding this special exhibition‚ not only to show and tell how slivovitz is a good friend to the Czech people‚ but also to bring Czechs and Koreans closer together.
RECORDED: "The Czech and Korean relationship has been nice over the last few years. We have had tremendous increase of Korean tourists whom we welcome in Prague. I think it's partly because the Korean Air started flying from Seoul to Prague two years ago."
That's not all.
Korean investment in the Eastern European country is growing.
Korea's Kos Wire will build a stainless steel wire plant for 30 million US dollars about 60 kilometers north of Prague.
Hyundai Motor will follow with a billion dollar factory in the Czech Republic's third-largest city of Ostrava.
The exhibition is taking place at a restaurant with the architectural design of the historical houses of Prague's Old Town and Town Hall.
The event will run through December 15th.
