A recent report says that more than one out of every ten babies born in North Korea in 2010 was born prematurely.
According to a World Health Organization report‚ 10.7 percent of the 348-thousand babies born in North Korea in that year were born before the 37th week of pregnancy.
North Korea did slightly better than other countries in WHO's developing-nation category the group's average was 12 percent but the average rate of premature births in developed countries was 9 percent.
South Korea came closer to the average among developed nations‚ with 9.2 percent of babies born prematurely.
Malawi had the highest rate of premature births‚ at nearly 18 percent.
