Pediatric clinics in Korea have prescribed antibiotics to over half of their patients.
A report submitted by the Ministry of Health and Welfare during its annual audit on Tuesday shows that‚ the prescription rate for antibiotics to infants‚ children and teenagers was over 55 percent.
The figure almost doubles the average antibiotics prescription rate of all hospitals in the country.
Lawmakers holding the annual audit say‚ that over-prescribing antibiotics is likely to make the body vulnerable to infections caused by antibiotic-resistant bacteria.
