The US Senate has taken a step forward to pass America's stalled free trade deals with Korea‚ Colombia and Panama.
The Senate voted on Monday to debate a tarriff measure passed by the House known as the Generalized System of Preferences or GSP.
Before sending the bill back to the House Democrats plan to attach an aid package‚ known as Trade Adjustment Assistance‚ to help US workers hurt by overseas competition.
Now President Barack Obama could submit the three trade deals to Congress or wait for the House to pass the GSP legislation with the aid for workers.
The Obama administration has said approving the agreements would spur job growth in the US economy.
