The bed carries a significant meaning when you think it's where you are born and also where you pass away.
This bed is made of glass balls and beads and strewn with silver laces.
These elaborate exhibits are the works of contemporary artist Jean-Michel Othoniel who is holding an exhibition in Seoul.
These glass bottles embody microcosms of unique shapes.
Glass is a common material that has been around for centuries keeping its constant traits and while fragile‚ it is also versatile changing from liquid to solid form.
The featured artist highlights such duality to display a glass fantasy.
"It's really like a fantasy you have in your mind. everybody has in his mind. They can enter in my work and escape to reality.It's just during the time of the show. It's just to give hope to the people."
Another exhibit uses a sulfur wall where one can light a match.
The person can cherish the moment to make a wish upon the burning matchstick.
While scratches remain on the wall‚ this ritual-like appreciation of his work is said to give a sense of calm and comfort to visitors.
"Everybody has a scar in his life and he can build on this scar instead of hiding it to be proud of this scar to grow and to catch the world."
Othoniel also says we all live in a not-so perfect world where people dream‚ hope and yearn for comfort.
The artist says he wishes his world tour exhibition will help give such people a sense of solace and peace of mind.
The exhibition runs until November 27th at the Plateau‚ at the Samsung Museum of Art.
