For those of you who live in Korea‚ I'm sure many of you have been with anticipation waiting for this moment for the monsoon season to finally come to an end.
As you know what that means. it means summer holiday season is officially just around the corner!! Right‚ SeanDefinitely. I haven't quite sorted out what I'll be doing on my summer vacation but starting from this week. almost all Korean students finally get to toss their text books and get some rest they truly deserve. or.‚.. do they[Reporter : ] Hello there. I remember back in the day. I used to love summer breaks because there are just so many things you can do especially when the weather tempts you to go out and do outdoor activities but it also kind of scared me a little whenever i thought about going back to school and getting completely lost in my studies.
//In Korea.‚..it is a common sight to see private academies completely filled up with students during the summer vacation trying hard to not get lagged behind their school studies Now both financially and emotionallythis can be a great burden for parents and kids alikeSo the Korean government has stepped up to solve such problems and give both parents and kids a chance to enjoy the summer break to the fullest.

The long-awaited summer break has finally begun‚ and every child in Korea can't wait to splash around in the sun!
However‚ for parents‚ summer break is the time when students must go to private academies to supplement their studies in school.
[Interview : ] "My children had followed a regular schedule at school during the semester. I'm afraid that if they stay home all day during vacation‚ that rhythm will be broken."
[Interview : ] "I send them to private academies. I'm planning to hire math and English tutors for the vacation period."
Private education costs normally rise during vacation‚ and demand is expected to rise even more this year as private academies were restricted in giving late-night lessons during the last semester.
According to Statistics Korea‚ private education represented the second-largest expense of household budgets in Korea.
[Interview : ] "Hiring tutors means that the cost of private education will reach over 1 million won . It's a big burden on our budget."
[Interview : ] "I suppose it's possible to not get private education during vacation‚ but my son needs to review and preview the material he's learning in school."
The Korean central and local governments are helping families cope with the costs of private education‚ especially during vacations.

] "Many students attend private academies during vacation. Our objective is to lower the financial burden of private education on families by having schools absorb the demand for vacation programs. We also hope to support more after-school programs for students living in farming‚ mountainous‚ or fishing communities."
Vacation programs are unique in that they provide child care in addition to education.

] "85% of all schools are currently operating after-school programs during summer vacation. About 75% of elementary schools are operating programs that combine education with day care."
This elementary school operates an all-day program during vacation.
During vacation‚ the programs focus on giving students the chance to explore different hobbies‚ without having to rely on expensive classes.
