North Korea has issued an ultimatum to South Korea over the inter-Korean joint tourism project at Mount Geumgang in the North just one day before Seoul officials and business owners were set to travel to the resort to discuss the ownership of assets there.
On its official propaganda website Tuesday‚ Pyeongyang claimed that Seoul must acknowledge its responsibility over the suspension of the joint tours and come to talks with a sincere attitude adding that this will be the last chance for the South to discuss the joint project with the North.
On Monday‚ Seoul's Unification Ministry announced that it would send a delegation of 12 government officials and business owners to the mountain resort on Wednesday after Pyeongyang demanded that Seoul send officials to the site after it threatened to "dispose" of all South Korean-owned assets there.
The joint tour project was suspended in 2008 after a South Korean tourist was shot dead by a North Korean soldier.
