A top US commander in Libya has admitted that Libyan leader Moammar Gadhafi is the target of NATO air strikes.
Admiral Samuel Locklear told senior US lawmakers that the air strikes were intended to kill Gadhafi even though the White House has previously denied that it was intentionally targeting the Libyan leader.
Observers say that attempts to assassinate Gadhafi are unauthorized by the United Nations.

Meanwhile‚ on Sunday‚ the AU welcomed Gadhafi's acceptance of a proposal to not include him in negotiations for a peace deal.
However when the negotiations will occur and who will represent Libya in the talks remains unknown.
