Rainy season is here in Korea.
The fifth typhoon of the year Meari ‚ is expected to hit the peninsula over the weekend.
The tropical storm‚ which has been spawning in the seas off the Philippines‚ is expected to turn its direction northeast‚ heading towards the East China Sea on Saturday and eventually expected to make landfall in Korea on Sunday.
Weather experts say Meari is carrying strong winds and heavy showers.
Meanwhile‚ on Thursday in the Philippines‚ the storm triggered heavy rain and flooding at least seven fishermen were reported missing and thousands were forced to flee their homes in the Bicol peninsula of the main island of Luzon‚ according to local authorities.
Back in Korea‚ the national weather agency predicted up to 1-hundred-50 milimeters of rain in some parts of the country on Thursday and Friday‚ due to the northbound monsoonal rainfront.
