A US expert has called Ban Ki-moon the most capable person on the global stage of handling of a potential crisis in North Korea.
Global analyst at the Center for Strategic and International Studies in the US‚ Daniel Runde saysthe newly re-elected UN Secretary-General is "uniquely equipped" to handle potential worst-case scenarios on the Korean Peninsula caused by political instability in the North.
Runde says that Ban‚ as a career diplomat‚ has extensive knowledge in engaging Pyongyang.
The US expert also says that the UN Secretary General's life experience of democracy and economic transition in his own country make him the ideal person to handle the pro-democracy movements in the Middle East.
