Global Zero‚ a global initiative group based in London and Washington that promotes the elimination of nuclear weapons‚ said on Monday‚.. that North Korea has half completed developing a compact nuclear warhead that can be mounted on long-range ballistic missiles.
In its latest analysis of global expenditures on nuclear weapons‚ the group points-out that the North's overall annual spending on its nuclear program is estimated to reach roughly 700-million US dollars this year.
The figure accounts for about 8-percent of the regime's total military spending.
The report says that Pyeongyang has produced enough plutonium for up to a dozen atomic bombs‚ and is currently undertaking an infrastructure project to enrich uranium in order to build nuclear bombs.
The cost of that alone is estimated at 500-million dollars which is about 6-percent of the North's military spending.
The report adds that although Pyeongyang does not yet possess the capability to deliver atomic bombs using long-range missiles at this stage efforts are underway to develop such a capability.
