And back here in Korea‚ the chairman of the budget committee at the National Assembly has warned that the allocation of the nation's welfare budget should not pander to populism.
In an interview with Yonhap News Agency Tuesday‚ Jeong Kab-yoon said that welfare budgets‚ once passed‚ are hard to revise‚ and if done wrong‚ they could become a heavy burden on the government.
He added that the matter should be handled with great care rather than being swayed by populist policies with parliamentary and presidential elections coming up next year.
Meanwhile‚ the budget committee will hold a general meeting Tuesday for the first time since its members were replaced earlier this month.
