It looks like Korea's aging population may be starting to affect the nation's economic growth.
According to Statistics Korea on Tuesday‚ the number of people aged between 25 and 49 dropped by over 3-hundred-65-thousand last year from five years ago to 19.5 million marking the first drop in that age group.
This is significant as those adults are defined as the most economically active members in society and fewer people in that group could lead to a economic slowdown.
Experts attribute the drop to Korea's low birth rate as the number of newborns cannot match the number of people born during the 1955 to 1963 'Baby Boom' period.
