A group of North Korean taekwondo athletes officially started their tour in the United States on Saturday.
The 17-member North Korean Taekwondo Demonstration Team will be performing in New York City on Sunday then in Pennsylvania on Tuesday as a goodwill exchange between taekwondo practitioners in both countries.
The team will be heading back home on Thursday.
Taekwondo is a traditional Korean martial art and has gained a lot of international popularity over the years.
It became a full medal sport at the Summer Olympics in the year 2000.
Also‚ according to a representative of North Korea's United Nations Mission‚ the so-called "New York channel‚" it expects this tour will help thaw relations between Washington and Pyeongyang.
This is the group's second time visiting the US.
It's first tour was in 2007.
