The 13th International Women's Film Festival kicked off in Seoul Thursday afternoon.
This year's theme is a new leap forward for women.
Setting the tone for the week-long festival was "The Hairdresser" directed by Doris Dorrie of Germany‚ which tells the story of a woman who courageously strives to run her own salon despite being overweight and the problems it poses.
Under the slogan "see the world through women's eyes‚" the festival has been a global forum for women filmmakers to share their insights and creativity since 1997.
Through April 14th the festival will showcase 115 films by women directors from 30 countries in Asia and Europe.
