But even though you may be tempted to hit the road right away‚ you should always first check your tires.
Experts advise checking the wear as well as the tire pressure.
To demonstrate how this affects safe driving‚ experts conducted this test.
A car with the right tire pressure had no trouble clearing the obstacles at 70 kilometers an hour.
On the other hand‚ a car with 30 percent less than the recommended air pressure skidded violently and went out of control.
"With less air pressure‚ the same braking force led to a lag in output as you just saw. This means that you cannot swiftly and securely handle emergency situations on the road."
In addition‚ a lack of tire pressure can mean riskier conditions when it rains and the road gets slippery.
It also impacts the fuel economy of the vehicle.
In fact‚ experts found that the car's mileage decreases an average of 1.6 percent for every 10 percent decline in air pressure.
The wear on the tires accelerates as well.
Tire pressures vary depending on the vehicle and drivers are advised to check the driver's manual or the table posted on the inside of the front door.
A simple check-up for your car is just one way to help ensure the safety of the whole family during a spring outing.
