Grand National Party Chairman Ahn Sang-soo has called on North Korea to sincerely apologize for its attacks on the South..saying it is a precondition for any meaningful cooperation between the Koreas.
Speaking at the National Assembly on Monday‚ Ahn stressed that Pyeongyang must apologize for sinking the Cheonan and shelling Yeonpyeong Island.
But the ruling party chairman noted that‚ as the South is directly affected by the affairs in the North‚ Seoul has to cooperate with Pyeongyang on matters such as natural disasters and dealing with famine.
Ahn also called for the "North Korean Human Rights" bill to be passed‚ which has been stalled since February 2010.
On Tuesday‚ the main opposition Democratic Party floor leader Park Ji-won will deliver a speech on his party's stance on the political affairs of the country.
