US daily‚ the Washington Post said on Saturday‚ despite the political unrest in the Arab world‚ the North Korean leader Kim Jong-il's family retains control.
The newspaper said‚ while several other authoritarian leaders continue to struggle to stay in power or end up fleeing their countries‚ Kim Jong-il is taking quiet steps to proceed with the ongoing power transfer to the heir apparent Kim Jong-eun.
The Post went on the say although some experts note problems in the country including food shortages and inflation‚ Kim's family manages to exercise authority with military support and propaganda‚ while trying to boost the image of the young and inexperienced Kim Jong-eun.
