The Korean emergency rescue team has begun its mission in Japan's northeastern Sendai City‚ an area most ravaged by Friday's monstrous now magnitude 9.0 tremor and succeeding tsunami.
Seoul's Foreign Ministry says after arriving early Sunday‚ the group of aid workers distributed food and other emergency supplies to more than 1-hundred Korean nationals who have taken refuge at the Sendai consulate general.
As for the 11 Koreans wishing to vacate the disaster site‚ the team assisted their travels to northwestern Niigata City on land.
Meanwhile‚ there have been no confirmed reports of Korean casualties.
