Back in October 2003‚ America's Solar and Heliospheric Observatory satellite‚ or SOHO‚ unveiled a detailed picture of a solar flare.
The explosion was the strongest of its kind a class X28 solar flare.
And last month‚ another sunspot explosion was observed.
Although the size was a relatively weak class X2.2 solar flare‚ it caused mobile communication problems and disturbed some electronic devices.
However‚ the real problem is that this series of flares have just entered their first phase.

The sun's activity cycle is 11 years.
Solar flares have caused massive power outages in Quebec‚ Canada and made a US communications satellite useless in the past.
In the future‚ however‚ it is highly likely that they could cause much more severe. and even fatal damage.
This is because various electronic devices and services that use satellites‚ such as broadcasting‚ global positioning systems and passenger airplanes‚ are becoming increasingly commonplace.

Kyung Hee University] "We need to keep a close eye on solar activity as it may cause chaos in various fields such as telecommunications‚ navigation and sailing."
NASA has warned that the 2013 solar storm could cause serious damage and it has compared it. to Hurricane Katrina which reeked so much devastation to the gulf states of the US back in 2005.
This is why the Korean government needs to quickly establish thorough preventive measures to cope with any serious problems that may arise.
