North Korean leader Kim Jong-il is reported to have brought in tanks and weaponry to surround his residence amid the recent collapse of the Mubarak autocracy in Egypt and the spread of anti-government movements in North Africa and the Middle East.
The latest report about the head of the secretive regime was confirmed by a high-ranking official from Seoul's National Intelligence Service during a closed-door meeting at the National Assembly on Friday.
And according to various international media reports‚ Kim has four official homes in the capital Pyeongyang alone.
The chief intelligence agency‚ however‚ speculated that the pro-democracy uprising in the Arab world would not trigger a revolt in the North‚ since the regime has increased efforts to keep any news surrounding the revolts shaking the region from reaching its people.
