Captain Seok is being treated for multiple gunshot wounds suffered during the rescue operation by Korean special forces to free his ship and crew from Somali pirates in January.
He told Seok how he happy he is that he survived and praised him for his bravery and leadership.
The Korean leader also invited him and his family to visit Cheong Wa Dae when he gets out of the hospital.
