The Muammar Gadhafi regime has demanded that the UN Security Council lift its sanctions on the Libyan leader for his violent crackdown on the rebellion in the country.

Meanwhile‚ some 1‚300 US marines have arrived at the Greek island of Crete to help people evacuate Libya.
And an official at the Korean foreign ministry said that Seoul's evacuation efforts were to be wrapped up on Saturday‚ leaving 100 Korean nationals who want to stay in the country.
