The Korean warship Choi Young arrived in Malta on Friday‚ evacuating 32 Korean nationals from the violence engulfing Libya.
Seoul's defense ministry said the destroyer docked at around 4pm‚ Korea time‚ in the Maltese port of Valletta‚ where the Koreans‚ including four grade school students‚ disembarked.
They were to be sent to Rome right away to board a flight expected to land in Korea late Saturday night.
Defense ministry spokesman Kim Min-seok said after two days of repairs and refueling in Malta the Choi Young will return to the port of Tripoli to support further evacuation efforts.
The ship's commanding officer‚ Captain Cho Young-joo‚ said his troops will use all possible means to pull the remaining Koreans out of Libya.
