South Korea's spy chief said on Friday that North Korea has been putting in extra efforts to idolize its leadership amid fears that the pro-democracy protests in the Arab world would spread to its own people.
National Intelligence Agency chief Won Sei-hoon told legislators at a closed door meeting that the communist regime has stepped up its campaign to block information from potentially seeping into the country on the social upheaval in North Africa and the Mideast.
In light of this‚ the state media has been strengthening ideological indoctrination while continually praising and idolizing its next leader-to-be‚ Kim Jong-il's youngest son Kim Jong-un.
Won also said that another North Korean attack is always possible especially amid the South Korea-US joint military exercises that are currently taking place.
And he added that when there is another provocative act by Pyeongyang‚ Seoul will do its best to minimize the damage as quickly as possible.
