A new report shows that officials from South and North Korea met in China in January to discuss holding an inter-Korean summit.
Citing a government official in Seoul‚ the Japanese Asahi Shimbun says that the two Koreas discussed ways to overcome Pyeongyang's military and nuclear provocations last year.
The newspaper adds that the North even indicated that it might publicly express regret over its military attacks on the South.
South Korea‚ meanwhile‚ is known to have suggested holding a potential summit outside of North Korea‚ but the two sides failed to agree on the venue.
