The price of gasoline has surpassed 2‚200 won‚ or one dollar and 96 cents‚ per liter at some gas stations in Seoul for the first time.

Gas prices in the Gangnam area‚ known for its high land prices‚ were typically higher than other areas in Seoul due to higher rental fees for the property where gas stations are located.
Industry sources say the rise in gas prices is likely to continue in Korea‚as the global oil price continues to soar because of instability in the Middle East.
