Doosan Heavy Industries & Construction has signed a deal worth 1.4 trillion won‚ or about 1.3 billion US dollars‚ to build a coal-fired power plant in Vietnam.
Doosan Heavy said in a regulatory filing on Friday that it won the contract with AES-VCM Mong Duong Power to oversee the engineering‚ procurement and the construction of a 12-hundred-megawatt thermal power plant.
The plant‚ dubbed Mong Duong 2‚ is expected to be operational by the year 2015.
By then‚ power plant projects in Vietnam are expected to be worth nearly 18-billion US dollars and this latest deal should help boost Doosan Heavy's status in the Asian market.
