Going to the theaters is a rare experience for most Palestinians‚ but a new play captivated its audience‚ even high-school students.
Men in the Sun‚ a book by Ghassan Kanafani about refugees struck a chord in the hearts of many Palestinian readers.
And now it is set to reach out to a greater number of audience as a stage adaptation‚ thanks to the Freedom Theater students at Jenin refugee camp.
The play depicts the life of refugees and highlights the trauma of refugees of three different generations.
The characters dream of traveling to Kuwait in search of lucrative employment‚ but in the end dies in the back of a truck.
To get with the times‚ more female characters were created for the play.
Most of the audience members felt that the play mirrors the reality of Palestinian life.
Men in the Sun will be performed in various West Bank theaters.
