Here in Korea the end of July usually signals the start of summer vacation season.
With temperatures hovering above 30 degrees Celsius millions are expected to leave the capital Seoul and head to mountains‚ lakes and resorts to escape the smoldering heat.
And in anticipation of heavy congestion on most highways starting this weekend the government has introduced special traffic control measures that will be in effect until August 10th.
According to reports‚ more than 80 percent of vacationers are expected to travel by car and therefore during the peak vacation weeks the government will temporarily open 13 roads and highways as well as allow cars to drive on the shoulder of the road during certain hours.
