China is apparently against the planned military drill in the Yellow Sea by South Korean and US forces.
Beijing's Foreign Ministry spokesperson Qin Gang said in a regular press briefing that moves that could heighten tension should be halted.
The Chinese official made the remarks in response to Seoul and Washington's upcoming joint anti-submarine exercise which could take place this month in the waters off South Korea's west coast.
Qin also called for restraint and calm and opposed moves that could encroach upon the interests of countries in the immediate region.
Last week a high-ranking Chinese military official expressed discontent over the planned naval exercise saying that its location was very close to the Chinese maritime territory.
