KwaZulu-Natal is a coastal province located in the southeastern region of South Africa.
Once under British colonial rule during the 1840s today‚ the province mainly consists of ethnic Zulus living in poor rural towns.
But poverty can't stop the children from playing soccer.
Although many don't own a pair of shoes they play soccer wherever there's an open space and a ball‚ with their level of play being quite impressive.
And to these children‚ soccer helps them stay healthy not just physically but also mentally.
[Interview : ] "Soccer makes me not smoke or do bad things out there.
That's why I like soccer."
When asked who their favorite player was many kids picked Korea's national team captain‚ Park Ji-sung as one of their soccer idols.
[Interview : ] "David Bekham‚ Wayne Rooney‚ and Park Ji-sung.
I think he is from the Republic of Korea."
Soccer brings South African children together‚ and helps them learn how to cooperate through team work.
To them‚ it surely is more than just a sport.
