Korea and the Netherlands have agreed to work together on Korea's river restoration and land reclamation projects.
During a bilateral summit between President Lee Myung-bak and the visiting prime minister of the Netherlands‚ Peter Balkenende in Seoul‚ the two leaders welcomed the signing of various agreements.

] "I believe the Netherlands is the best partner with the world's most advanced water resource-related technology and land development know-how."
The Korean government is pushing to refurbish four major rivers in the country and has completed building the longest man-made dike in North Jeolla Province to turn the area into a business hub.
The Presidential Office explains that the Netherlands is a global leader in water resources technology given that the country has been battling the sea for centuries with much of its land mass below sea-level.
And now Korea can enjoy the European country's investment and expertise thanks to the agreements.
The Dutch leader said in a separate interview that he sees a lot of room for the two countries' cooperation in the projects.
[Interview : Peter Balkenende‚ Prime Minister of Netherlands] "The four river project is very interesting because it has to do with quality. Quality of life. I think it's important to use the right techniques and the views of our existing on these issues. For the four river project‚ I think the Netherlands can contribute to it."
And the Dutch prime minister expressed condolences to his Korean counterpart regarding the naval vessel disaster off the west coast that took the lives of 46 sailors.
[Interview : Peter Balkenende‚ Prime Minister of Netherlands] "It is meeting of friendship and cooperation. But let me start by saying that we feel our sympathy for the victims."
He added that inter-Korean affairs are not only a bilateral concern but also an international one and that he plans to discuss the naval disaster with the Chinese leader during his visit to China later this week.
