Among the five Koreans wounded in Friday's shooting rampage in Saipan‚ the 39-year-old man‚ identified only by his surname Park who sustained a gunshot to his back‚ will return to Korea Saturday night.
Park is reported to have undergone emergency surgery in Saipan‚ the US territory in the Pacific‚ but because he requires additional surgery on his spine‚ which can only be conducted by a neurosurgeon‚ he will be transferred to Korea.
There reportedly aren't any neurosurgeons on the resort island.
Authorities in neighboring Guam have decided to finance a private jet for Park and cover all of his medical expenses as Koreans take up a significant portion of the tourists there.
The rest of the injured Koreans are still in Saipan where they are said to be recovering from minor injuries.
