The global death toll from H1N1 influenza is constantly rising as Korea confirmed a third death on Thursday.
According to the World Health Organization‚ the total number of H1N1 patients worldwide is more than 182-thousand as of August 13th with 1‚799 deaths.
The flu is especially raging in Latin America as ten countries in the region officially confirmed a combined total of up to 1‚360 deaths.
In Brazil‚ 557 people have died from the virusthe highest number of fatalities in the world and the United States reported 522 deaths. ranking it the world's second highest H1N1 death rate‚ with Argentina‚ Mexico‚ Australia‚ and Chile coming in next.
The virus is also rapidly spreading in Asia amid concern over a second wave of the pandemic in the northern hemisphere during the colder fall season.
Thailand has seen the most deaths in the Asia-Pacific region at 119 and in Taiwan‚ about 40-thousand people have been infected from the flu after Typhoon Morakot worsened health conditions on the island.
Health experts have warned the death toll in Taiwan might rise to 10-thousand.
Meanwhile Britain and France have received their first orders of vaccine for the H1N1 virus.
British health authorities say they have secured the first batch of 100-thousand doses while their French counterparts simply announced the arrival of a "limited quantity" of shots.
Britain is believed to be the hardest hit country in Europe with 66 fatalities from the virus.
