Rescue workers in Taiwan are searching for scores of survivors after Typhoon Morakot struck the central and southern regions of the country this past weekend.
As of Thursday morning the official death toll stands at 108 with 62 people listed as missing and many others injured.
The death toll soared after rescue workers pulled out more than 30 bodies from where they were buried under a massive mudslide.
Meanwhile about 100 people were rescued after helicopters were dispatched to Shiao Lin and Namahsia in Kaosiung County.

The island's south was hit the worst by the storm receiving more than two meters of rain that led to the country's most devastating floods in 50 years.
Typhoon Morakot has reportedly caused more than 260 million US dollars in damages to agricultural infrastructures alone.
Relief operations are underway and the National Fire Agency has airdropped food to some 700 people in Shiao Lin and Namahsia.
Roughly 17-thousand survivors have been evacuated and over 7-thousand people have been placed in shelters.
Taiwan has announced plans to spend more than six million US dollars in order to rebuild roads and bridges after heavy rainfall washed them out in hard-hit villages.
Meanwhile Taiwan President Ma Ying-jeou said the United States‚ Japan‚ Singapore and China have all offered the country financial assistance.
As rescue efforts continue Taiwan has received warnings of more heavy rain and landslides.
