It's been four years since the stream was restored into an eco-friendly area.
Now it serves as a place of respite for Seoul residents and foreign tourists.
The Cheonggye Stream represents Seoul's history over the past half a century.
It has been transformed from a symbol of poverty and pollution in the 1950s to a symbol of successful industrialization and modernization in the 1960s and 70s‚ and to the center of urban development in the 1980s and 90s.
In October 2005‚ after about two years of restoration efforts‚ the Cheonggye Stream was reborn into a clean stream in downtown Seoul crossed by 22 bridges.
The most remarkable achievement of the stream's restoration was of course the revival of its ecosystem.
