The number of H1N1 patients continues to rise worldwide as the World Health Organization has confirmed over two thousand cases in 24 countries.
And to prevent a further spread of the virus in Asia top health officials of the Association of Southeast Asian Nations‚ Korea‚ Japan and China gathered in Thailand.
WHO Assistant Director-General Keiji Fukuda warned against complacency urging Asia to stay vigilant.
He also hinted that if the disease becomes full-blown it could infect one-third of the world population but made clear the WHO has no intentions of raising its alert level to phase six yet.
In Canada media reports say the country's first H1N1 death has occurred in Alberta.
