Korea's getting a taste of Thai entertainment with the "The Miracle of Thailand" launched Friday in Seoul.
The goal of the event is to promote the Thai movie entertainment industry to the Korean public and share in the appreciation of the two countries' cultures. Celebrating the 50th anniversary of official diplomatic relations between Korea and Thailand the Thai government displayed some of its entertainment trends to the Korean public.
[Reporter : Ahn Jisu] "The Miracle of Thailand is the last cultural cooperation project between the two countries for 2008 which is expected to help further boost cultural exchanges."
Thai Princess Ubon Ratana visited Seoul for this sole purpose.
[Interview : Ubon Ratana‚ Princess Thailand] 11:21 "I hope that you take a look at our movies‚ whatever entertainment products and you can extend that to other aspects of relationship‚ whether it be finance or trade relationship or just mutual understanding."
Thailand has already left its mark in the global movie industry as its beautiful islands have appeared in films such as the 007 James Bond series. Now Thailand is promoting its own movie industry which includes films such as "The Last Moment" and "Where the Miracle Happens". The latter is a film based on a novel by Princess Ubon Ratana about underpriviledged children. The princess herself stars in the movie.
[Interview : Ubon Ratana‚ Princess Thailand] 4:27 "A lot of things I wrote from my experience‚ working with kids from my life experience. And through the movie‚ the experience‚ the feelings intensified tenfold. That is very effective in making everyone feel the same or at least want to help."
These films will be shown to the public free of charge at Lotte Cinema in Myeongdong central Seoul on Saturday.
