In a move to free up its exchange rate‚ China's central bank has widened the daily trading band for the yuan.
The People's Bank of China says that‚ starting Monday‚ the exchange rate will be allowed to rise or fall two percent from a daily mid-point rate set each morning by the central bank.
Up until now‚ the yuan could only move up or down one percent against the U.S. dollar per day.
The move was widely expected after the central bank‚ in apparent coordination with major state-owned banks‚ drove down the yuan's exchange rate from mid February through early March. Reporter : song@arirang.co.kr
