The President of South Sudan is negotiating with his former deputy‚ in an attempt to halt the ethnic murders that have seen over one-thousand people killed over the last two weeks.
President Salva Kiir is scheduled to sit down in the Ethiopian capital of Addis Ababa with rebel leader Riek Machar to broker a deal on the spiraling civil war in South Sudan.
The talks come as the South Sudan government acknowledged it has lost the key town of Bor to rebel forces.
The United States says it welcomes the talks and reiterated the need to end the bloodshed as soon as possible.
