The whole world is shivering from snowstorms and cold waves.
In India nearly 100 people have died so far as the freezing weather continues to sweep across the country.
Local officials said most victims were either homeless or poor and had no warm clothing or shelters to protect themselves from the cold.
The northern state of Uttar Pradesh suffered the most as the death toll reached 90 in the state as of Monday.
In response the state government has ordered the setting up of bonfires at around some 3‚500 bus stops‚ roads and railways to prevent more homeless deaths.
And despite hopes that this freezing weather will soon pass by weather officials forecast the cold weather to continue over the next few days.
[Interview : Anil Kumar Gupt‚ Uttar Pradesh resident] "The cold is very severe in comparison to previous years. The cold has increased beyond all limits over the last two days."
Meanwhile the United States isn't doing much better after heavy snow in the country's southeastern and south central states left thousands of people without power.
States including Georgia‚ Alabama‚ Mississippi‚ Texas and Oklahoma saw nearly 23 centimeters of snow causing major traffic jams and property damage over the last two days.
Georgia‚ Louisiana‚ Mississippi and Tennessee have all declared a state of emergency as the states have been freeing up resources for restoration works.
The storm is now expected to continue north up the coast‚ which could possibly hit New York and parts of New England with up to 30 centimeters of snow sometime next week.
