French Foreign Minister Bernard Kouchner says the European Union should consider boycotting this summer's Olympic opening ceremony if China continues to carry out violent crackdown in Tibet.
The proposal came after Paris-based group‚ "Reporters Without Borders" called on officials to boycott the opening ceremony as well as urged them NOT to keep silent on the unrest in Tibet.
There was no official reaction to the latest proposal from EU members; however‚ the US Olympic Committee criticized the idea of 'Olympic Boycott'‚ saying it is out of the question.
MEANWHILE in Tibet‚ Chinese state media reported that some 105 people have surrendered to police for taking part in Tibet's protest last week after the government promised a lenient punishment for those who turn themselves in.
