In Korea‚ the figure has risen steadily‚ and in 2013 the country had the second-highest number of hospital beds‚ following Japan‚ with 11 beds per thousand people.
Korean hospitals also have an abundance of high-tech medical equipment.
There are around 25 MRI scanners and 38 units of CTs available per million people -- the fourth- and sixth-highest numbers in the OECD.
