요약정보
Korea's leading presidential candidates are in action to overcome their weaknesses -- as they shuffle to win the support of undecided voters.
The ruling Saenuri Party's Park Geun-hye is focused on bringing about national unity across Korea's different social and political factions.
Koreans remain divided about Park's father‚ late President Park Chung-hee's authoritarian rule.
Some credit him with bringing about tremendous economic growth‚ while others criticize him for political suppression.
Park Geun-hye has made efforts to show she has moved beyond her father's shadow.
She has paid visits to ceremonies held to commemorate her father's former political foes.
[Interview : Park Geun-hye‚ Presidential Candidate
Saenuri Party] "I believe the forces of democratization and industrialization must come together to overcome the regional and ideological divide."
The main opposition Democratic United Party's Moon Jae-in‚ who's been in the spotlight over the issue surrounding the Northern Limit Line‚ the de facto maritime border between the two Koreas‚ wants to convince voters national security is at the top of his agenda.
There have been claims late President Roh Moo-hyun‚ whom Moon served as chief of staff‚ disavowed the NLL during an inter-Korean summit in 2007.
He met with the bereaved families of the victims of the sunken navy corvette Cheonan and promised to protect the NLL.
[Interview : Moon Jae-in‚ Presidential Candidate
Democratic United Party] "I have never forgotten the fact that the NLL is the officially negotiated maritime border set by the two Koreas."
Independent candidate Ahn Cheol-soo has been trying to overcome his weakness of being the last runner that joined the presidential race.
He has been announcing his policy goals one after the other‚ to let voters know that he does have concrete plans.
Ahn is busy meeting as many voters around the country as he can with an aim to overcome the regional divide.
[Interview : Ahn Cheol-soo‚ Presidential Candidate
Independent] "The city of Wonju has set a good example to other regions by supporting and developing small and medium-sized businesses."
Analysts say swing voters could hold the key in December's election‚ so candidates should not be overly confident about receiving support from their traditional strongholds.
