요약정보: Korea's Ministry of Defense wants to make sure that people of all generations remember the sacrifices made by South Koreans during the Korean War.
With that in mind‚ the ministry introduced its first "6.25 Marathon" on Sunday‚ with an emphasis on paying tribute to all the veterans and family members who went through the war.
Just before the marathon‚ participants were treated to martial arts demonstrations‚ military band performances‚ and more.
The marathon started impressively‚ with thousands of participants and spectators cheering on the runners.
Many active duty soldiers had the chance to run the marathon side-by-side with their parents.

Ji Youn-suk‚ Mother] "This is the first 6.25 marathon the government is holding and we are allowed to run beside our parents so it's a plus."
Runners had a choice in participating in a half-marathon‚ a 10-kilometer marathon‚ or one spanning 6.25 kilometers‚ in commemoration of the start of the war on June 25th‚ 1950.
Over 6-thousand people participated in the run including foreigners.

We also came out to sacrifice a little bit those generation that went through the war sacrificed so much and for us to run 6.25 or 10km is small sacrifice of that larger context it's the least we can do

The marathon was followed by different events such as a "주먹밥" or rice ball tasting‚ which was a typical meal for soldiers during wartime.
Other events included a Korean War exhibition of photos taken during the war.
And there was also a glimpse of the future South Korean soldier. A combination of Army and special forces soldiers displayed the latest‚ and most high-tech weaponry.
