Hana Financial Group has purchased Korea Exchange Bank for 3.9 trillion won or roughly 3.5 billion US dollars.
The country's fourth biggest banking group said today that it has agreed with Lone Star Funds to takeover its 51 percent stake of the Korea Exchange Bank at 11‚900 won per share.
This is 11 percent lower than the earlier purchase price of 13‚390 won per share agreed upon in July.
The takeover comes after Seoul's financial regulator ordered Lone Star to sell most of its stake in KEB‚ last month after the Texas-based firm was convicted of stock price manipulation.
The acquisition deal is subject to regulatory approval and valid until February 29th.
