South Korea is reportedly in negotiations with Japan to bring North Koreans who entered Japanese waters aboard a boat last week to Seoul.
According to an unnamed official at Seoul's foreign ministry‚ Seoul has confirmed the nine defectors' willingness to come to South Korea and is in talks with officials in Tokyo to bring them into the country.
The official added that they could be brought to Seoul as early as sometime this week.
