The Korean government claims its research and development budget has been mis-used by three state-run institutions.
According to a government office inspection report released by the Ministry of Knowledge Economy Monday‚ three governmental institutions‚ the Evaluation Institute of Industrial Technology‚ the Institute of Energy Technology Evaluation and Planning‚ and Institute for Advancement of Technology‚ were found to have been mis-managing government funds from 2005 to June this year.
The report says around 30 billion won or some 27 million US dollars worth of public funds have been lost over the six-year period.
The ministry says it will amend related laws and closely monitor funding for R&D projects to ensure public funds are not wasted.
