In other news‚ on the last day of his three-day visit to the United Arab Emirates‚ President Lee Myung-bak participated in a ground-breaking ceremony at the proposed nuclear power plant site in Braka.
The plant‚ to be built some 300 kilometers west of the capital Abu Dhabi‚ was part of a deal signed between the two countries back in 2009 when Korea won a 40-billion US dollar bid to build four nuclear plants in the Middle Eastern country.
It was Korea's first international contract for a nuclear plant.
Korea will take on the full scope of work and services including engineering‚ procurement‚ construction‚ nuclear fuel‚ operations as well as maintenance support.
The first of the 14-hundred megawatt reactors is set to be completed by the year 2017 and the others by 2020.
